The Sports Policy of NGS is envisaged to:

  • To implement the guidelines of CBSE to have minimum one period per day from class VI to X.
  • To prepare students for the Internal Assessment paper in Physical Education in realistic basis.
  • To provide opportunity to every child to excel himself / herself in games and sports.
  • To build teams by constant practice opportunities.
  • To make the students aware of rules and regulations of various games.
  • To conduct inter house competitions on regular basis.
  • To select the best possible team in each game and participate in outside tournaments to the extent possible.
  • To inculcate sportive spirit among the students.
  • To make them learn to treat success and failure with equal respect.
  • To make them know the basic First Aid during sports injuries.

STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THE POLICY:

  • By making provision for 4 periods of P.E.T per week  in the time table.
  • Out of 4 periods, one period will be marked for theory.
  • During the rest of three periods, all sections of the same class will be combined to enable the P.E.Ts to form the teams for one period per week.
  • During the rest of the two periods classes 6 to 8 will combine periods to conduct the matches. Similarly classes 9 and 10 will have combined periods.
  • Each child will be provided opportunities to play the game of his choice apart from cricket.
  • During these periods, after practice for one week, Inter House Matches will be conducted during the rest the rest of three weeks.
  • Each month at least one discipline will be completed.
  • When the boys are engaged in one discipline, other discipline will be allotted for the girl students.
  • Such disciplines / games will be marked in the school’s Annual Calendar which will be prepared well in advance.
  • The duration of the matches will be as per the rules of the Game without shortening the duration so as to provide chance for the lagging team to come back in the game.
  • This will also make the students to build stamina levels.
  • A notice announcing the matches will be displayed on the Notice well in advance for the information of one and all.
  • The results will also be displayed.
  • The winner will get 7 points, runners – 5 points.
  • All efforts will be made to conduct 3rd place matches. In such case the 3rd place holder will get 3 points and the last positioned team one point.
  • The cumulative total ling of the points will decide the “ Best Games House Trophy “
  • During the matches, teachers who have Free Periods will be specified to help the PETs.
  • Senior students. With the knowledge and experience will perform the duties of referees.
  • All the games will be conducted before the end of November.
  • The remaining games will form the part of Annual Sports Meet.

ATHLETIC EVENTS 

  • Proper practice of Athletic events will commence from 1st
  • This will enable the House Masters to select the Best Athletes for their houses.
  • The Annual Sports Meet, mostly will comprise of Athletic events apart from one or two left over games.
  • The Individuals and houses will earn points of 5, 3 and 2 for I, II and III positions respectively apart from Relay – which will earn points same as Team Events.

INDOOR GAMES 

  • Chess , Carrom and Table Tennis will be Indoor Games that will be played in the school.
  • In Inter House Competitions, Team as well as Individual Champions will be rewarded.
  • Chess will be played on Round Robin League basis.
  • Carrom and table Tennis will be played on Davis Cup Model –i.e., Two Singles, One doubles and Return Singles.

METHOD O INTERNAL ASESSMENT FOR CLASSES 6 TO 10.

  • Theory – 30 Marks
  • Battery Test – 20 Marks ( One running event and one Jump / Throw event )

The performance in Athletic Meet will also be considered.

  • Participation and achievements in Inter House matches and Annual Sports Meet -30 marks
  • Representing the school and achievement in outside matches – 20 marks.

There will be THREE POINT GRADING SYSTEM AS PER CBSE GUIDELINES

75 MARKS AND ABOVE – A : 50- 74 – B AND 33 TO 49 – C

INTER DISICPLINARY APPROACH

  • The written works / speeches by the students will be considered for Multiple Assessment and Subject Enrichment Activities in the 
  • Work done as Referees will earn marks for evaluation and grading in Work Experience.
  • First Aid offered may also find reflections in terms of marks for Social Science and Work Expereince.
